Why Arena Hall?
Note from Evan Baehr, Founder & CEO of Arena Hall.
Arena Hall is where builders, investors, and policymakers work together to shape what comes next. Headquartered in Austin with two operating locations and national expansion underway, the organization sits at the intersection of capital, policy, and innovation, turning ideas into initiatives that scale.
Its community includes founders of high-growth companies, investors in frontier technologies, cultural figures shaping public dialogue, and policy leaders driving reform across education, health, and energy. Arena Hall connects these leaders through work that bridges sectors, where conversation becomes collaboration, and collaboration leads to measurable impact.
Beyond convening, Arena Hall runs venture and philanthropic initiatives, applied research, and civic and commercial projects that advance a belief in progress through enterprise and stewardship. At its core, the organization is building a new model for leadership infrastructure that fuses business creation, civic innovation, and cultural strategy under one roof to accelerate the ideas that will define the next decade.
The Opportunity
Arena Hall is seeking a Director of Communications to shape and steward its narrative. This role is the connection between ideas and action—the person who translates mission into message and captures the stories of the people building what comes next. You’ll develop the voice that moves across every touchpoint, shaping everyday moments into stories that mark the progress of a living movement.
Working at the intersection of membership and product, this role builds the communications framework that supports growth and deepens belonging. You’ll document the work and relationships forming inside Arena Hall by crafting newsletters, member journals, and materials that reflect the substance of what our members are building.
This position combines editorial judgment with operational clarity. It’s less about marketing and more about designing communications that sustain a private network of leaders. Arena Hall does not advertise. We host, write, and convene with intention through handcrafted print pieces, quiet digital touchpoints, and correspondence that keeps members connected no matter where they are.
What You’ll Build
A brand voice that moves people. Shape and protect Arena Hall's identity across all member touchpoints — from capturing insights for weekly newsletters to crafting member communications that reflect our mission and values with consistency and power.
Internal communication that connects. Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that drive membership growth, event participation, and community engagement — all bespoke, authentic, and aligned with our intimate atmosphere. No advertising campaigns; simply turning daily moments into storytelling assets to execute quarterly print magazines alongside digital content (newsletters, community app messages, event collateral, weekly plain text messages) that keeps the community informed and engaged.
Strategic media relationships. Build selective relationships with press, influencers, and community partners, who align with our values, managing limited external outreach that maintains our exclusive, invitation-only brand positioning.
Digital presence with purpose. Manage website, email, and social channels with analytics-driven optimization that prioritizes member engagement and authentic community building over vanity metrics, using platforms such as private Instagram for members, drip marketing, and weekly plain text messages
Sales enablement. Support the revenue/sales team with compelling materials that translate Arena Hall's vision into membership conversions and partnership opportunities, supporting membership sales.
A creative team foundation. Build and lead a small marketing and creative team, coordinating with external agencies and vendors to scale impact while maintaining brand integrity and mission alignment.
What You’ll Bring
7-10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or brand management, ideally in hospitality, private clubs, membership organizations, or mission-driven companies.
Proven "storyteller" archetype — skilled at blending creative narrative with data-driven decision-making and member engagement optimization.
Media relations experience with selective, high-quality press coverage and relationship building that aligns with exclusive brand positioning.
Digital fluency across social platforms, email marketing, and analytics tools (Google Analytics, HubSpot, etc.) with focus on engagement over reach.
Leadership with purpose—orchestrating initiatives, aligning teams, and holding every story, every message, every moment to the standard of our mission.
Executive presence comfortable representing Arena Hall with high-profile members, partners, and press in both formal and intimate settings.
Inherent inquisitiveness — attuned to current events and ideas that shape the future, comfortable engaging with Arena Hall's diverse programming while maintaining professional neutrality.
Content capture mindset—comfortable filming events, coordinating media production, and building systems to turn daily moments into storytelling assets.
Experience creating bespoke, high-touch marketing collateral (not ad campaigns) for premium/exclusive brands.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field required.
Master's degree preferred — or equivalent experience earned building brands that matter.
You’ll Thrive in Arena Hall’s Culture if You:
Are naturally curious—engaged with today’s events and inspired by ideas that shape the future.
Have a deep love for community and hospitality, and believe in their power to transform lives.
Can move fluidly between strategic decision-making and hands-on execution to keep momentum.
Embrace ambiguity and see it as an opportunity to create clarity and structure.
Bring startup experience and the resilience to build from the ground up.
Have “zero to one” experience—launching new initiatives, not just scaling existing ones.
Enjoy discovering and implementing tools that make work smarter, faster, and more effective.
